Bastards
August 26th, 2006I got woken up from my siesta a little bit ago because my phone was receiving email after email. This site was getting spammed every 5 minutes, and I was being asked to authorize or delete these comment spams. I feel like finding and beating the piss out of someone. After about fourty of these, I finally found a decent and simple plugin. Hopefully it works. So from now on, if you post a comment, you have to do some simple math or else you won’t be able to post. I tested it, and had to use my fingers to figure out what eight plus six is, hehe.
*Edit*
After some research, I decided to abandon the testing type of spam blocking and went for the automated ones. We’ll see how they work. Here’s what I installed: Askimet (already was using), Spam Karma 2, and Bad Behavior.

Comment spam sucks. So which plugin are you using?

Seems like there’s a bug in the comment validation, it asks you to “answer the question”, but you can’t see the question unless you click “Change” next to your name.

Yeah, I see what you mean. I think it has to do with the k2 theme that I’m using. I’m not sure how to disable cookies. At least that’s what I think is doing it. I’m using a plugin called “Did You Pass Math?”.

Looks like K2 is formatting the comment identity form with ajax, so if you can change the ajax formatting flag to keep the comment identity form open, that might work.

This might have caused the spam “breakthrough” on your blog comments: http://akismet.com/blog/2006/08/downtime/

Thanks for the plugin list - I installed both SP2 and BadBehavior on mine. Let’s see how’s that working out…
