Pake Xtracycle - maiden voyage

Cindy took the boys for a short spin around the block for the first time. I’ve been making the kids ride the xtracycle with me until I felt it was just right, and then I asked Cindy if she would give it a spin. The first time I had Micah get on the back, he climbed on and splayed out on his stomach. He thought he’d fall over if he sat up. He figured it out, though. It looks like it’ll work out!
To put the thing together was kind of a pain, because I couldn’t get the 700c wheel from the Pake Nu Nu to fit on the model of xtracycle that I bought, which is for a 26″ wheel. I eventually gave up and used an old but strong mountain bike wheel in the back, which was a cinch to install. Wish I had just done that in the first place. It would’ve saved me hours. Now Cindy’s running a 700c up front and 26″ in the back, not that she cares.

That is awesome. But how is Micah gonna carry his oversized backpack with all his schoolwork and books?! Hopefully, the boys don’t outgrow it within the year ;).
That’s cool how you can see your shadow of you holding up the camera while you’re filming them.

By the kid’s legs are these huge black saddlebags. They can easily put whatever they want in there. You can see in the picture/video that Micah has figured out to stick his legs in the bags to give him a bit more support.
