Foie Gras & the Chinese

I was listening to NPR on the way to work and heard this oh so Chinese response when asked about whether force feeding geese to make foie gras (goose liver) was inhumane. The response was, “It doesn’t matter whether you force feed the bird or kill it directly. The end result is the same.” Direct, blunt and practical. That’s the Chinese response to so many issues that are non-relational.

    Haha, that’s awesome. I am certainly being reminded of Chinese directness here in Asia and this just re-affirms that in a western context.
